The Power of Loyalty: My Small Circle of Individuals

Updated: Oct 30, 2023

In our life we have endless connections and opportunities, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters. For me, loyalty is what shapes my choices and the people I choose to surround myself with. This week I reflected on who is in my inner circles. I have made some massive changes to who I will give my time and energy from now on. In this blog, I explored why loyalty is so important to me and how I've intentionally built a small circle of individuals who embody this virtue.

1. Defining Loyalty:

Loyalty is more than just a word; it's a commitment, a bond, and a promise. It's the unwavering support, trust and dedication that one person shows to another, even in tough times. Loyalty to me is rare gem but shines on when tested, and it's this quality that I value above all else.

2. Quality over Quantity:

In a world where social media encourages us to have hundreds or even thousands of connections, I've chosen to focus on quality over quantity. By keeping my circle small, I ensure that the bonds I form are genuine, deep, and built on a foundation of trust.

3. Reciprocity in Loyalty:

Loyalty is a two-way street. While I value loyalty immensely, It must be reciprocated. If someone proves to be disloyal, gossip about me and is untrustworthy that tie will be severed. Loyalty is earned and maintained through actions, and if someone fails to uphold their end of the bargain, it's only fair to reevaluate the level of loyalty I give them in return.

4. Building a Supportive Network:

I have an extremely small circle of loyal individuals and they are a support system that I can rely on. These individuals are there for me through thick and thin, offering guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear. They provide a safe space where I can be vulnerable and authentic, knowing that they will always have my best interests at heart. This network of loyal friends and family members has become an invaluable source of strength and comfort in my life.

5. Loyalty as a Reflection of Character:

The loyalty I show and seek in others is a reflection of my own character. I strive to be a person of integrity, someone who can be counted on and trusted. Loyalty is not just about being there for others; it's also about being true to oneself and staying committed to one's values and principles. I don't always get this right but I try my best. By surrounding myself with loyal individuals, I am reminded to stay true to who I am and to always act with loyalty and integrity.

Loyalty is a powerful virtue that impacts our lives and relationships. It requires commitment, trust, reciprocity and support. Surrounding ourselves with loyal individuals who share our values is important, as they inspire and guide us. Loyalty is not just about being there for others, but also staying true to ourselves. I am grateful for the small circle of loyal trustworthy individuals who are invaluable to me.
